Title: Hunting narrow spectral artifacts in LIGO data

Abstract: On a typical day, hundreds to thousands of very narrow-band spectral artifacts are apparent in high-resolution strain spectra for each of the LIGO detectors. These artifacts degrade searches for persistent gravitational waves, especially searches for continuous gravitational waves from spinning neutron stars. They are typically instrumental in origin, but often difficult to track and diagnose. In this talk I will discuss motivations, methods, and challenges for handling this kind of noise, using case studies from O4a.
