Unravelling binary and multiple star formation
Rajika Lakmali Kuruwit, University of Copenhagen,

Many stars exist in binary/multiple star systems, and we know that most stars are born in multiple star systems that can interact and disintegrate as they evolve towards the main sequence. While these systems are evolving they are hosting discs which can become the site of planet formation. In this talk I present work done investigating the formation and lifetime of discs in binaries. I also present more recent work investigating the origin of the observed bimodal separation distribution of protostars and the formation fo evolution of multiples via different pathways.
