What to Know About GWs for Those in the Know
Rana Adhikari, Professor of Physics, California Institute of Technology,

NOTE SPEAKER CHANGE

The LIGO and Virgo instruments are undergoing a series of upgrades this year with the expectation to turn on and see what the gravitational wave universe has to say next year. Along the way I will describe some of the tribulations and triumphs we have had since 2020, prospects for 2023, an overview of what the next decade has in store, and answers to some of the most FAQs:

Why does LIGO have to be so big?

Are there ever going to be detections of something other than compact binaries?

Is it possible to make 0.1% measurements of cosmological parameters with GWs?
