Research

In the following sections we summarize the research activities that we are pursuing as part of the QUIC collaboration. The effort is collaborative and multidisciplinary. For example, although Despain leads the effort in large scale (classical) simulations of quantum networks, it is not at all clear at the outset what are the physically relevant quantities to be computed to characterize, for example, the flow of entanglement through the course of the calculation. Sensible models based on optical interactions will be developed to assist in this effort by the physics wing of the collaboration. Likewise, the research on quantum error correction will be combined with the quantum simulation effort and pushed toward laboratory implementation.
