You probably blew the fuse on your meter by not paying attention to what you were connecting it to. In particular, if you don't set the dial to the appropriate function and scale BEFORE you make the connection, you run the risk of putting too much current through the meter's indicator needle circuit. The latter is protected by a fuse. So open it up and check it out. You can check the fuse (if it is opaque) with someone else's Ohm meter. (It conducts if not burned out!) There are probably two spare fuses in your kit. (Use the right one, not one of the wrong ones -- there are two different sizes.) Also, you can in the future get more fuses from the Help Lab parts closet (which has 24/7 access with a South Campus Master.)
