TRAVEL INFORMATION

The California Institute of Technology is located at 1201 East California Boulevard, Pasadena, California, 91125. The Caltech campus is bounded by Wilson and Hill Avenues west and east, and by Del Mar Avenue and California Boulevard north and south. It is a small campus, only one city block square.

It is best to fly into/out of either Burbank Airport or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Shuttle buses, vans, and taxis are available for those who do not wish to rent a car. Costs run from $18 - $30 for shuttles and vans to as high as $60-$75 for taxis from LAX. LAX is about an hour away. Burbank airport is approximately 25 minutes away from Caltech.

Directions to Caltech from LAX

Take Sepulveda Blvd. south out of LAX. Sepulveda is Hwy 1. Proceed under runways (about 2 miles) to 105. Take 105 east. Make sure you don't miss this junction - it is located just south of a long tunnel under the airport. Proceed about 5 miles on 105 east. Take 110 (Harbour Fwy, later Pasadena Fwy) north to Pasadena. It is about 20 miles. The 110 turns into Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena. Take California Blvd. east to Caltech (just over 1 mile). The drive should take about one hour.

Directions to Caltech from Burbank

Take the 134 or the 210 freeway to the Lake Avenue exit. Then go south on Lake to California Blvd. and turn left. The drive should take about 25 minutes.
